AMANDA MCGOWN,
SUMMERHOUSe DESIGNER

Originally from Memphis and a Nashvillian for over 17 years, Amanda and her family returned to Oxford in 2021. A graduate of Ole Miss, she has been designing residential and commercial spaces for over 15 years. She has consulted and designed for law firms, various types of boutique fitness studios, mixed-use developments, and corporate offices. Her most notable and signature commercial spaces are Avo Vegan Restaurant in Nashville and seven Hot Yoga Plus studios across Tennessee and Mississippi.

She is gifted with a vision for the architectural aspects of design and is often pulled in during the construction process to help carry a space from breaking ground or knocking out the first wall on a renovation, to final fluff before photos.

Amanda believes that how we outfit the spaces of our lives is one of our loudest statements about who we are, how we feel, and what we value. Her core belief is that there is no pat formula for design, but a push-pull process of honing in and whittling down exactly what we want to say through design. There are elements that always work well, but the most magical of spaces are created by pushing boundaries and stepping outside the lines of standard expectations. She seeks to find the glorious dance that occurs when a rhythm is found between the home or business owner and the designer, and the space begins to take shape on its own.
