NOLA!

What did we do this weekend? Four letters: NOLA.

On Sunday, we all loaded into a van and headed down to New Orleans for a day FILLED with fun! After an early morning and a three-hour van ride, it was time for some good New Orleans food. Where else is there to brunch other than NOLA, the fabulous French Quarter eatery owned by Emeril Lagasse?! We grabbed our table for 7 and enjoyed a delicious, leisurely meal…

After brunch, we went to NOLA Rugs on Magazine Street to learn all about the amazing goods they have to offer. In case you haven’t heard, we are hosting a NOLA Rugs rug show, starting Thursday, March 1 and running through Sunday, March 4. Nothing like this has ever come to our area before!

Sharon, owner and rug guru that heads up NOLA Rugs, gave us an in-depth tutorial of NOLA rugs. What they have to offer will amaze you (just like it amazed us! We knew these rugs were fantastic, but now our appreciation for them is through the roof…. WOW!)

Drop by the rug show and let us share our newfound NOLA Rugs knowledge with you! (Did we mention that we’ll have help on hand to get your favorite rugs over to your home for approval? More importantly, did we mention that we’ll be open until 7:30 on Thursday with wine and hors d’oeuvres to make your shopping experience as relaxed as it can be?!)

New to the Floor

The Voice Viewing Party

Lisa’s son, BRIAN FUENTE, is officially a star!! In case you missed The Voice on Monday night, Brian auditioned with the song Paris by Grace Potter, and he ended up on Team Blake! (Blake Shelton, that is.) We could not be more excited for him!

Lisa invited a bunch of people over to her house to watch Brian’s national television debut over a glass of wine and some sandwiches. To make things even more exciting, WLBT showed up to do a news story on Brian/Lisa! Since Brian’s segment wasn’t until the very end, Roslyn Anderson and her awesome camera man watched the whole show with us. We had a blast!

If you saw the show, you know that we didn’t get to see quite as much of Brian as we saw of some of the other contestants. BUT, we found this video over on NBC.com so we can see what would have been on the show, had time allowed…

Here’s the bit of his performance that aired:

There is a video of his full performance somewhere, but NBC seems to have taken it down for now… Once we re-find it, we’ll post it for you!

Be sure to watch the next episode on Monday at 8/7c to see who else ends up on Brian and Blake’s team!

{ happy valentine’s day }

Happy Valentine’s Day to all of you! We love this holiday because someone usually brings cupcakes and/or candy, someone usually brings elementary school Valentine’s cards (which take us back to the good ol’ days), and someone usually gets flowers from a sweet boyfriend/husband (which we all can enjoy!)

Another reason we love this holiday is because we’re reminded of just how beautiful and versatile pinks, corals, and reds can be! We picked a few Schumacher fabrics (from many collections) showcasing just why we love the colors of love.

Enjoy today!
Tell someone you love them!
And do something nice for someone!
That’s a sure-fire way to make your Valentine’s Day the best possible! Oh, and when you get blue, just re-visit this post for a little happiness and warmth from these pretty fabrics!

Lisa’s Office: Before and After!

We had a pretty exciting transformation at SummerHouse recently! The “before and after” took place in the office of our leader and head designer Lisa Palmer! As you can see in the “before” picture, her office is brimming with creative ideas, magazine clippings, and bits of many different projects. Loaded with cool stuff, yes. But organized? Not quite…

After some new wallpaper, some hard work, and a little organizing and rearranging, Lisa has herself a brand new office! It almost doesn’t even look like the same space! Take a look…

So, remember the cute puppy from the last post? His name is Ringo and he’s the newest addition to one of our own’s families! He came up for a visit and was there just in time to hop into a picture with Lisa during the informal photo shoot we had going on! Here are Ringo and Lisa just having a good ole time!

Why You Need to Watch THE VOICE…

We have some VERY exciting news around here! In case you haven’t heard (or haven’t caught a quick glimpse of him on the previews for the show), Lisa’s son Brian Fuente auditioned for NBC’s The Voice! (The Voice is an incredible concept for a TV show. Learn more about it on NBC.com!) Season 2 of the show premiered last night right after The Super Bowl, and resumes tonight at 8/7 central! We aren’t sure if Brian’s audition will air tonight, or if it will be next week, but the show is worth watching either way!

Showroom Update { part two }
