Elish Phares

Elish is a great addition to the SummerHouse team and is fitting right in! Her organization skills, eye for fashion (both in interiors and in wearable fashion), and her cute personality make her a joy to work with! Let’s get to know her a little better, shall we?

SummerHouse: So your name is kinda different but super pretty!! Can you tell us a little bit about the origination of that?

Elish: My name….my mom’s family is Italian and Elizabeth is the trademark family name that gets worked in somehow on every girl’s name. My Dad is Irish, so they compromised and named me Elish which is gaelic for Elizabeth. Hence, the odd name.

SummerHouse: What has been the biggest shock about your new job at SummerHouse?! You’ve only been here a few weeks, but there has to be something that surprised you or caught you offguard!

Elish: I think my biggest shock at Summerhouse was how much of the business side of Interior Design I’d be doing…

SummerHouse: What is your favorite thing to cook and why?

Elish: My favorite thing to cook is either my chicken pesto salad because I made it up and it’s pretty different from traditional chicken salad. Or I love cooking crawfish fettuccine…I have a great recipe that isn’t too hard but tastes great!

SummerHouse: What is your favorite movie? Why?

Elish: Hmmm favorite movie is a tough one…I’d say Wild Hearts Can’t Be Broken because I grew up watching it and I’m a sucker for those kinds of movies. Or Last of the Mohicans…I always watch it with my dad and the music is incredible.

SummerHouse: How would you describe your own personal design style?

Elish: My personal design style is better described by the designers I respect…in fashion, as well as interior design. I love Alberta Ferretti, Kelly Wearstler, Zac Posen, Elizabeth & James, Robert Kuo… I’m usually drawn to clean lines broken up by rich textiles, any type of sleek surface like mirrors and metallic finishes, & cool colors or grayed neutrals.

SummerHouse: When you are not partaking in your new favorite hobby, which is to work at SummerHouse, what are your other hobbies?!

Elish: Well I love running and being outside so that’s a pretty big hobby, I love to cook and have people over for dinner, & I have 4 nephews and a brand new little niece that I love to visit!

SummerHouse: Tell us one weird thing about you that we may find interesting, or that not many people know

Elish: One weird thing? So hard to choose….haha Well I am an OCD bed maker. It’s weird. I make mine every morning no matter what. Even if I know I’m going to wash my sheets that night. And I sometimes can’t help myself and make other peoples beds…It makes the whole room look instantly put together!

Elish: I love working at Summerhouse and I’m thankful I have so many amazing, sweet people to be around everyday!
