More Gorgeousness

You might remember the teaser we shared last week about the home that hosted the photo shoot for the Mistletoe Marketplace steering committee! Well, we’re here to deliver on our promise of more photos from this stunning residence designed by our very own Lisa Palmer… Are you ready?!

Ladies and gentlemen… Feast your eyes!

When Lisa first started on this project, the house had not been updated in about 20 years. It was beautifully done, but it was a lot of bright color and pattern, and the client wanted something lighter and softer.

“We started with rugs from NOLA Rugs in New Orleans and went from there.” says Lisa. “We worked with some of her antique pieces and added new pieces that will be future antiques for her.”

The painting in this photo is by Brent Smith out of Mobile. His work is breathtaking!!

The painting in the dining room was a commission of the client’s cousin Martha Rea Baker from Santa Fe. Lisa worked closely with Baker on this piece, which turned out beautifully.

Working in the sun room was a bit of a challenge, but Lisa was able to overcome all obstacles and make this room absolutely fabulous! “It was important to the client that they had an unincumbered view of the lake. It was a challenge because there was a television and not much wall,” says Lisa.

It’s easy to see why the client insisted on having a clear view. This lake is SO pretty!

B. Viz Pillow // SummerHouse, Ridgeland, MS

Lisa says, “The only thing we worked with in the bedroom was the rug. Then we found that beautiful B Viz pillow! She really wanted that room to be a respite where she could really relax.”

Overall, Lisa says she loves working with homes that have a lot of history and personality. “And not only did this home have history and personality, but my client has a long history in the community and LOTS of personality! I love working with her,” Lisa says.

We say, job well done!!

Oxford Condo Before and After

Here’s a great BEFORE and AFTER to get your day started off on the right foot!

This Oxford, MS condo, designed by Todd Prince, is the perfect example of how to do a LOT in a small space!

Here’s what Todd was working with:

BEFORE

And here is how Todd transformed this space

SummerHouse Before & After

AFTER

According to Todd, the client wanted to fit as much seating as possible into the small living room since they do a good bit of entertaining, particularly during football season. The client’s personal style is a little bit dressy, but things also needed to be family friendly, so Todd incorporated a pair of tight back sofas, some durable linen chairs (which you can’t see), and some movable Hickory Chair benches that are just as beautiful as they are purposeful. These can be moved all over the condo to provide extra seating wherever needed!

The client’s artwork was the starting point for what turned out to be a beautiful space! Kudos on a great job, Todd!

Designer Showhouse Feature in Mississippi Magazine

{ mississippi magazine }

The latest issue of Mississippi Magazine has a wonderful 10-page spread on the Designer Showhouse out at Chestnut Hill that our very own Lisa Palmer led the design on! Be sure to pick up a copy and read the story that starts on page 182!

Mississippi Magazine | January/February 2013

Mississippi Magazine | January/February 2013 Issue

Here’s a quick excerpt from the wonderful writeup!

“Lisa Palmer of SummerHouse in Ridgeland was chosen as lead designer. Palmer chose fundamentals– wall colors, flooring, and tile. She shares, “I received the plans about six months prior to building. I changed the plans up quite a bit by arching doorways, adding cypress beams, rounding corners instead of using casings in openings, adding flatboard to walls and ceilings to give it more of a cottage feel. I worked with Al Bruce on the front door and added shutters instead of sidelights. I used a lot of semi-transparent stains in different mixes to achieve a unique look.”

We hope you enjoy this story, and the rest of the issue, as much as we did!

Firefly Cottage Feature in Social South

Have you seen the latest issue of Social South?

They did a feature on Firefly Cottage at Chestnut Hill, the Designer Showhouse that Lisa led the design on from the ground up! Lisa assembled a team of the best designers in Jackson, who each took a room to put their own cottagey spin on. The house ended up being breath-taking! You can read all about it in this story! (See page 26)
