Meet Our Fabric Librarian, Jaclyn!

This is Jaclyn Petty! Meet one of the newest members of our ever-growing SummerHouse family!

Jaclyn Petty, our outstanding part-time Fabric Librarian, answers a few questions for us so we can get to know her just a little better!

Q: In a nutshell, tell us what you do up here at SummerHouse!
A: I am the Fabric Organizer/Librarian! In a nutshell, I maintain the fabric library by organizing samples and reference materials, adding new information as needed, and deleting dated info.

Q: Where did you to go college and what did you major in?
A: I graduated from Mississippi State University in May 2012 with a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts with an emphasis in Graphic Design.

Q: What’s your favorite spring trend this year?
A: All the new spring colors and patterns. Bright florals and polka dots are so adorable.

Q: What’s your favorite movie these days?
A: Oooh My favorite recent movie would have to be Life of Pi. It was such a great book and the movie was just unforgettable. The 227 days at sea are a test of physique, mental adaptation and faith, and Suraj Sharma makes Pi’s spiritual journey as convincing as his nautical one. So beautiful!

A sample of Jac's mad organization skills!

Q: If you could choose one artist to listen to 24/7, who would it be?
A: Beyonce, of course

Q: What’s your favorite way to enjoy caffeine?
A: Coffee! Isn’t that the only way?

Q: Got any fun trips planned for the summer?
A: I actually recently bought Beyonce tickets for her concert in July. You have no idea how excited I am!

Q: What else do we need to know about you?! Spill it!!
A: I love painting in my spare time. Abstract landscapes is one of my favorite things to paint!

Thank you, Jaclyn, for coming in every day and tackling the sometimes-daunting (actually, often-daunting!) resource library with a smile on your face! We love having you up here!

Behind The Scenes: Delta Magazine Photo Shoot

Yesterday, designer Elizabeth Gullett and sidekick Laurel Donahoo spent the afternoon at a photo shoot for Delta Magazine! The shoot was of a GORGEOUS master bedroom that Elizabeth designed perfectly, using soft blues, grays, and whites. Here’s a peek at what you can expect in the next issue of Delta Magazine!

Keep an eye out for more updates from this project, which we’ve dubbed “The Cabin.”

Kelly Wearstler for Groundworks

Most of us up here are pretty big fans of (okay, some of us are completely obsessed with!) the one and only Kelly Wearstler. Her style is absolutely magnetic, both in fashion and interiors!

We have been so in love with the newest collection she did with Groundwords for Lee Jofa that we had to share some highlights!

Kelly Wearstler for Lee Jofa

A little about this collection:

“In her second collaboration with Groundworks, Kelly Wearstler has created a vibrant and inspiring fabric collection that combines her love for natural materials, graphic patterns and unique colors. The collection features organic and textural designs that are quietly elegant, as well as the bold prints that have become a Kelly Wearstler signature.”

We love her go-to color palette. It’s always really different, but it just plain works. That’s why she’s so good!

Which of the fabulous fabrics pictured most grabs your eye?

Upscale Cabin Underway

Lisa is currently working on a very exciting project that we all can’t wait to see come to completion! This upscale cabin, a second home for a very dear client, is going to be gorgeous!! It is currently under construction!

Here’s a peek at some materials being used in the Master Bedroom of “The Cabin…”

And here are some samples of things to be used in the powder room and dining area!

The kitchen will have a fabulous rich, dark countertop…

And could these selections for a bedroom at a rustic lodge be any more perfect!?

We are all so excited about this project we can barely stand it! We’ll be sure to keep you posted on the progress!

Texture + Tone

Lisa and Elish have a couple of room designs underway that are beautiful displays of texture and tone! All of the creams in one of the rooms come together beautifully to create a soft and very interesting palette. All of the different blues in the other room blend beautifully because of the different textures and patterns.

Stay tuned for pictures of these rooms later on as they start coming together!

Lookin’ Good, Part 2

Last week, we gave you a few shots of the newly vamped up showroom in Lookin’ Good, Part 1. Since that was only a taste of what was added and spruced up, we’re here to give you the rest of the photos, as promised!

We just love the holidays around here!

Just Because We’re In Mississippi…

Have you ever wanted your house to have that SummerHouse look but were afraid it could never happen because you don’t live around here?

{( fear no longer )}

Just because our shop is located in Ridgeland, Mississippi does not mean we can’t help you make your home beautiful wherever you are! Our designers love a quick business trip just as much as they love design!

Elizabeth, one of our designers, actually just got back from a trip to Texas to present this beautiful project!

Thanks to the communication age in which we live, it was not a big deal for Elizabeth to get all the information she needed about the space, work up some ideas, then fly out to make her presentation!

If you’re interested in having a SummerHouse designer work with you, even if you aren’t from around here, then be sure to give us a call! We all love the chance to spread our wings from time to time!

Market Recap {LEE Industries}

Market Recap {LEE Industries}

Market Recap #3: The Lee Industries Showroom. Always a good time here! See what Lisa had to say about this showroom visit!

At 6-45 a.m. at the Lee Showroom. We can buy off the floor at a discount so our strategy was set. Elizabeth, Elish and I split up with sold stickers in a mad dash for merchandise!

Uh Oh… our friends at Atchison Imports in Mobile had the same idea!!

This is a new style and fabric from Lee. LOVE LOVE!

These will look so awesome at my front counter! Bought 2!

Now… Lee offers acrylic legs! Wow! Had to have this too!

Couldn’t help myself! Had to have! It is a new faux leather with just a hint of glam.

Bought it! How fab! This bench is about 10’ long!

At the Lee showroom, they show Lucky Fish Galleries art. This painting is on a pull down projector screen! They painted the wide black border on the wall. I found this fascinating!

Beautiful new fabric from Lee in our favorite swivel chair. Casual elegance at it’s best. Bought it!

We still have a few High Point market updates coming your way in the next few days!
