Face Lift: Day 2

It has been a BUSY day! We have gotten so much great stuff done, upstairs and down! (For those of you who may not be familiar with our setup, we have our showroom downstairs and our offices upstairs.  For the BIG REVEAL, we are going to have both downstairs AND upstairs on display! Guests have never been able to go upstairs at a party before, so we are working hard to get things presentable up here!)

Hot Mess upstairs...

Elizabeth and Laurel refolding fabrics like there is no tomorrow!

After lots of TLC, the fabric library is looking much better!

Katie and KC weeding out lots of old books. We found one from 2004... WOW!

Take a peek at what all has gone on downstairs!  While we were rearranging furniture, we ended up needing to put some outside our back door.  As luck would have it, the weather decided to change from very pretty to very nasty.  So we had about 3 minutes to move LOTS of stuff inside… Thankfully, the only stuff that did get rained on was wrapped in plastic so there was no harm done.  But how bout that for a quick jolt!?

Hot Mess downstairs...

Hot Mess Part 2

Part of our new built in shelving unit! We are so excited about it!

The new built-ins!! Not painted yet, but looking beautiful nonetheless

The new wall stencil behind the front desk is looking AWESOME

The Modern Room is starting to take shape. SO exciting!

There is a chance that this’ll be the last update until Tuesday… We will try to squeeze in one more but no promises!! Remeber to mark your calendar for Tuesday, September 14! THE BIG REVEAL is going to be so much fun! Food and wine by Viking Cooking School, and lots of great donations for our drawing.  Thanks to Calistoga Wine and Spirits, The Everyday Gourmet, View Gallery, Fusion Coffeehouse, Kosmos and Faces for all your support! :)

Face Lift: Day 1

Hey everyone!  We wanted to share our face lift progress thus far! This won’t be our prettiest blog post, but after looking at these pictures, hopefully the end result will be a real treat! We’ve got the 80′s tunes blasting, some good food downstairs, and lots of excitement! The painters are working hard downstairs as we clean out the resource library and spiff up our offices upstairs.  Our faux finishers should be in tomorrow to get started on the wall behind the front desk!

Here is what the store looks like right now… It will be WAY different by next Tuesday!

One side of our front room looks like this...

...And the main wall in the front room looks like this!

Everything pushed to the middle so the painters can move around!

The middle room... So sad!

The gallery sure does look different with no art!

The bottom half our our new built-in shelves in the back. This will be the new home of extra pillows and bedding.

Katie is working hard going through the library and getting rid of old/ugly stuff.

DON’T FORGET! Everyone is invited to our grand re-opening, THE BIG REVEAL, on Tuesday 9/14 from 5 to 7!  Viking Cooking School is doing the catering, and we’ll have some great door prizes from our neighboring businesses!  A special thanks to Calistoga Wine and Spirits, View Gallery, The Everyday Gourmet, Faces, Kosmos and Fusion Coffeehouse for the contributions!

Stay tuned for more posts on our progress… :)

The Big Reveal

Ok, it is officially time to announce our big news!

Since we are nearly 5 years old, which is 50 in design years, we have decided to get a little work done…  We have reached the point where we are in need of a face lift!  We are going to make a few little changes around the store that are going to make a big difference!  With that being said, we are going to have to “disappear” for a few days.

We will close our doors late Wednesday night, September 1 after regular store hours and won’t re-open until the morning of Tuesday, September 7.  During that time we will be working hard on our update!  Our doors will be locked, but you will be welcome to come peek in the windows and check on our progress!  We will frequently post pictures on the blog to keep you updated!

To celebrate our new look, we will have our BIG REVEAL on Tuesday evening, September 14 from 5-7 p.m.  You, your friends and your family are all invited to join us as we celebrate our new look.  Bubbles and bites will be catered by our wonderful neighbor, Viking Cooking School, and we will have a couple of drawings that you won’t want to miss!

Mark your calendar for Tuesday, September 14 from 5-7 and be sure to bring friends!  Please feel free to come in before we take our little hiatus so you will be able to fully appreciate everything once we re-open!  We look forward to seeing you!

New Dwell bedding is here!

Our new Dwell bedding has finally arrived! We are so excited about it, we can hardly contain ourselves!  Check out a few of their many patterns here:

This is the new peacock pattern we have been hearing so much about!

The oh-so-popular peacock pattern in a more subtle colorway.

This great graphic also comes in black and white.

This pattern also comes in charcoal and white.

We have this duvet cover on the showroom floor for you to see for yourself!

This taupe trellis pattern is so handsome in person.

Designer Spotlight: Betsy Pevey

Betsy Pevey

This week, designer Betsy Pevey shares a little bit about what has been catching her eye these days.  Her love for art, color and the great outdoors are truly inspiring.  Take a look…

“A painting definitely makes a room.  I am always thrilled with artists Lauren Barksdale and Dyann Gunter.  Lauren’s beautiful birds and landscapes, and Dyann’s abstracts and nudes are so versatile.  I think art is SO important , in any space.”

Abstract by Dyann Gunter

Landscape by Lauren Barksdale

”My favorite color right now is paprika.  It looks great with light hues, like golds and off whites, or darker hues like charcoals, taupes, and dark blues.  That color just has an energy that makes me happy!  I actually just finished up four custom pillows to bring that color into a neutral room.  We used a paprika linen with gold embroidery, and backed it in paprkia velvet. They turned out great.  A couple of my favorite fabrics with paprika are by Raoul and Galbraith and Paul”

Galbraith and Paul. Birch Orange

Galbraith and Paul. Flower Power Fuschia

Jane Shelton. Vermicelli Square Red

Romo. Delaney Fuchsia Raoul. Ngozi Cayenne

“My favorite place at my own house right now is my patio.  Outdoor spaces are the ticket to relaxation… A place to unwind and enjoy with family and friends.  I love the multi-use of a garden seat.  They are great indoor and outdoor, and are an easy way to add a pop of color.  I am also loving the new outdoor introductions by LEE Industries.  They have some new outdoor fabrics that are beautiful and easy to clean.”

Behind the Scenes: VIP Photo Shoot

We were recently asked by VIP Jackson for a room to photograph for an upcoming issue.  Since one of the teen rooms we recently did turned out SO well, we decided to use that one! Here is a little behind-the-scenes sneak peek of the shoot:

Katie is showing off her flower arranging skills. Flowers always make a room photograph better!

Here is Laurel, preparing one of our props: A bowl of popcorn! We put cute Izze drinks out, too, so it looks like a party!

Allison Mazurak (photographer) and Erin Cogswell (VIP Editor) watch as Katie does a little rearranging

Allison working her magic!

The colors in the room turned out so pretty!

We absolutely loved how the window seat turned out. The button braid detail on the drapery is the best part!

CHEERS! That's a wrap!
